About ME
Let Me Tell You A Story…

Hi, I’m Ashley.
I’m a mixed-race, Canadian woman – though I identify mostly with my Indigenous heritage, which was the most prevalent in my life while growing up in various small towns nestled between Toronto and Ottawa, Ontario.
Now, I live in the Kootenay Mountains of British Columbia with a city lot I’m slowly transforming into an urban-farm and a house full of adorable fuzz-balls, we’re definitely the neighbourhood’s entertainment.
I’ve spent over a decade helping start-ups grow, and in that time I’ve also launched a few of my own ventures:
Geti Cosmetics
Personal-care products made from good-for-you ingredients that you can feel good about adding to your routine.
Tell Them There’s Meat In It
A plant-based cookbook & blog with recipes, kitchen hacks & tips for creating meatless meals without sacrificing flavor which has evolved over the years to include more about food sustainability and my own desire to learn more about my food, where it comes from, and how it’s processed.
You see, after years working in an industry of “supplementation” one thing became clear to me:

Nature Provides Everything We Need
I’d taken all the supplements: every vitamin, mineral, amino acid, protein powder, muscle builder, fat burner, ketone, antioxidant, and tried every variation of diet there was during my youth as an athlete & fitness competitor. I also worked in the industry, with meant I got to try new products, sometimes before they were released.
As the years progressed and I absorbed more and more information like the thirsty little knowledge-sponge I am one thing got progressively worse — my health.
Despite an impeccable diet, rigorous training, and a well-researched routine of supplements aimed to improve performance and assist in a speedy recovery, I was constantly sore, tired, and “puffy”.
All of my research told me to take this supplement or that vitamin to fix my problem, but none did. The further I went down the rabbit hole, the darker it got and the harder to find a way out.
My journey back started in 2016 with a few personal changes:
Firstly, to my diet which, unbeknownst to me, was the cause of massive inflammation and lactic acid buildup that had plagued me for years.
Then, I stopped taking supplements and gave my filtering organs a break from highly-concentrated doses that it wasn’t able to process.
As time went on and I began to see my energy return while my long-term inflammation and lethargy desisted. I had sudden child-like urges to RUN from one place to the next, simply “because it was faster”.
If you told 25-year-old me that I’d be a 37-year-old Vegetarian and that I’d be so passionate about it I’d have written a Cookbook and created a Cosmetics Company based on the traditional remedies and plant medicines I grew up using and learning about from my grandparents I’d have suggested you were experimenting with the wrong smart-drugs — but, here we are!
